Quality 15" laptop under $600

Posted on: June 18, 2017 by SPfreeTiger

Hey, I’m not a “geek” and am just an average joe when it comes to laptops. But based on my ‘research’ for some gaming laptops lately, the Acer Aspire E15 for $630 (if you don’t mind) seems to be a pretty good deal. Again, I don’t know much about laptops hence why I used “seems.”

Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-E5-575G-53VG-15-6-Inch-Windows/dp/B01DT4A2R4

I can’t really say for sure if this laptop will help your programming, but based on the reviews, it seems to be a good laptop for college.

Oh, before I submitted my comment I wanted to make sure if I could add any more. This

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-E5-573G-15-6-Inch-GeForce-Windows/dp/B012IBOCRU/?tag=tdrvr-20

Laptop is from the same series but is $570 so if you want that. It’s got 8gb ram, no ssd though. Btw I found this one from an top 7 programming laptop article. Not very helpful or credible I know, but may be of some use to you.

Posted on: April 4, 2017 by LonerIM2

It depends on how much video editing you will be doing, I recommend either This Acer or this Lenovo if your video editing is light work then the acer would be your better option, but if it medium to heavy then I would go with the lenovo.

I would recommend you go up for this Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG would be a good pick. It has an i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, FAST 256 GB SSD and a Geforce `940 mx graphics card. It will do a decent job in running Civ 6 and other games very well.

I would recommend this acer. It is fast and reliable, and has dedicated graphics, for more demanding tasks. If you dont need the dedicated graphics or an i5, you can go for this model, which also has a 1080p screen and is $200 cheaper

Good laptop with ssd and i5 or better for school and light gaming.

Looking for laptop around $500 that can run minecraft

Posted on: March 30, 2017 by theoruss

How’s it going!
Theirs mainly two options:

Best bang for your buck, $29.99 over your budget, but has everything you want or need, except for the color! This laptop has been very highly rated considering what you get for your money ๐Ÿ˜€

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG 15.6-Inch Full HD Laptop (Intel Core i5, NVIDIA 940MX, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, Windows 10)

* dedicated video card paired with an intel core i5!
* 256gb SSD, small but enough for minecraft/mods basic stuff, he’ll love this. Fast boot-up, and very responsive
* 8gb of ram, plenty for multi-tasking

If you really want to get him a red laptop, you do sacrifice perfomance, and the SSD from the laptop.

HP 15-ba051wm 15.6″ Laptop, Touchscreen, Windows 10 Home, AMD A10-9600P Quad-Core APU Processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive, Red, Bundle with Mouse, 16GB Flash Drive, and Sleeve

The bundle is pretty cool though, comes with a sleeve, a mouse which he will probably need and a flash drive all for $418 ๐Ÿ™‚ i looked at some reviews on the processor and some videos and it seems to run fine on medium settings, although i’d really suggest going for the Acer because it as overall a much better unit.

If you ever want to play games such as overwatch, this can handle that.

500-600USD Laptop for engineering student (Malaysia)

Hi, in amazon Malaysia I found this:

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-E5-575G-53VG-15-6-Inch-Windows/dp/B01DT4A2R4/ref=sr_1_1

Great specs for the money, it has SSD dedicated graphics and good processor.

If you want it to last while you work on it, maybe a Lenovo Ideapad is the right choice:

https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Ideapad-510-GeForce-80SR002SUS/dp/B01FJFN2DC/ref=sr_1_10

It’s a extremely durable brand, the cons is that in that price range it doesn’t have SSD.

What do you think?

You can’t expect amazing build quality from something that is $500.

Batteries can’t be replaced anymore – isn’t a thing of modern machines. Heatsink you should be able to get to (with some work and tutorial videos).

Here’s the thing – if you’re looking for something for something with dedicated graphics, the best thing will be a very similar option.

If you prefer better build quality and don’t mind giving the dedicated graphics up, go with this.

The **Aspire E5-575G-53VG** wins easily and it’s build quality is pretty decent. It has a better screen resolution than the Dell , a better battery life than both the Dell and HP, as well as it even has a dedicated graphics card.

laptop for graphic design and animation USA ($500)

Posted on: March 2, 2017 by windchill89

For graphic design you don’t need much, a low to medium end GPU can handle most programs like Photoshop and visual studio just fine but animation can be a different story.

This acer should be able to handle light gaming and graphic design programs just fine but it sits right above your budget.

To be accurate if you lower the graphic settings of the games to the lowest resolution then this acer would be able to run the game but I wouldn’t consider that “decently well but the next best thing is to push your budget to get a 950M, would you be able to do that ? to be accurate I am talking about this Lenovo-Ideapad mainly because it comes with a quad core CPU which is recommended for your game and it also comes with the more powerful 950M GPU.

A 15.6 inch 1080p display would have your attention as well :-),for storage a 256ssd which goes well witht the 15 processor that it comes with for fast booting time of the programmes you will be using. As far as gaming goes the GeForce 940MX with 2gb dedicated vram and 8gb ddr4 that comes with it can more that handle lol in low – med setting without lagging.

The **Acer aspire e15** does it for me sleek, attractive looking design, top of the line hardware, and in most cases extreme portability to boot.It offers long battery life of 8 hours and solid performance through the NVIDIA geforce 940mx with 2gb dedicated vram that with give you 50-60fps when gaming. The 256SSD boots really quickly thus your programmes are up in no time. The laptop hardly shows any major weaknesses apart from the screen’s far too low brightness.

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG

Pros:

– Dedicated GPU (GeForce 940MX) (rare at this price point) albeit I don’t see this being important

– 15″ FHD screen

– Optical drive

– RAM upgradeable

– M.2 SSD with open 2.5″ drive bay for an extra HDD

– Backlit keyboard

Cons:

– Ever seen that picture of Torvalds flipping off NVIDIA? That still applies (albeit I’ve heard various people using nouveau nicely and the proprietary drivers are pretty okay-ish) (you *could* theoretically only use the integrated graphics but I don’t recommend that)

– Small-sized SSD is likely going to be difficult to dual-boot on unless you store very little data

– SSD is SATA, not PCIe

– Bloatware (very much worth reinstalling/uninstalling applications when you buy it)

– 5.3 lbs, _heavier_ than your current laptop

Unknowns (for me, probably discoverable):

– Don’t know about the wireless chipset, avoid if Broadcom

ASUS F556UA-AB54 NB

Pros:

– Intel Integrated Graphics as far as I can tell, which generally work well with Linux (albeit not very powerful)

– 15.6″ screen

– Optical drive

Cons:

– Intel Integrated Graphics are generally not that great

– SSD is small

– 5.1lbs, lighter than previous entry but still heavier than current

Unknowns:

– Any kind of upgrades

Don't care about screen size, US, 400-600. I'm just a simple girl looking for a simple computer

Posted on: February 24, 2017 by AOCPS

The Acer E5 is an excellent Windows computer that can run simple Steam games at 60+ FPS for $550. It’s also not heavy for a 15-inch screen, and the processor is the same type you’d find in a desktop for the same price.

The Acer E5 includes the following:

– Intel Core i5-6200U processor
– Nvidia GeForce 940MX Graphics
– 8 GB DDR4 RAM
– 256 GB SSD space (an SSD is 40 times faster than a traditional hard drive)
– a bright and color accurate 15.6 inch 1080p IPS screen (not a touch screen)
– Windows 10 Home as it’s operating system

I own it personally and it looks good! There’s no cheap plastic, some areas are metal, and the free included 1 TB of cloud storage through Microsoft OneDrive has helped me share Word documents to my colleagues and store Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, OneNote notes, & movies!

Here’s the Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-E5-575G-53VG-15-6-Inch-Windows/dp/B01DT4A2R4/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1487889001&sr=1-3&keywords=acer+e5

NOTE: I don’t work for Acer. Please take note that some people that are helping others out (especially the ones that recommend Eluktronics products) are affiliated with the company that they’re working for. Yes, the rules state that you must reveal yourself if you work for a certain company, but even the moderators don’t enforce it all the time.

The Acer E5 is a laptop that only costs $550, but it has all the goodies of laptops costing $1,000+. The Acer E5 has a quick Intel Core i5-6200U processor, a Nvidia 940MX graphics chip, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, a snappy 256 GB SSD (40 times faster than a regular hard drive), has a optical drive for burning, reading, writing, and everything else that an optical drive can do, and has a beautiful 15.6 inch 1080p IPS matte display. The display is so beautiful it looks similar to the 1080p display on the $1,500 Dell XPS 15 (the Dell doesn’t have an optical drive by the way). In addition, the Acer E5 only weighs 5.5 pounds! ๐Ÿ˜€

What are some good inexpensive laptops?

Posted on: February 23, 2017 by AOCPS

I’d recommend the Acer E5 for $550. It is a solid and well built computer.
– Intel Core i5-6200U
– Intel 520 Graphics
– 8 GB DDR3 RAM
– 256 GB SSD
– 15.6″ 1080p matte nontouch panel
– also has an optional optical drive for an additional $50

Here’s the link: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-E5-575G-53VG-15-6-Inch-Windows/dp/B01DT4A2R4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487808753&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+e5

Another recommendation is the ASUS Chromebook C202. I recommend this because it has a bright 11.6″ display, really fast hard drive, comes with a free 100 extra GB of cloud storage with Google Drive, and has a water-resistant keyboard. Also, if something goes wrong with the Chromebook, replaceable parts are easy to find. Even ASUS sells them!

The Acer E5 laptop is going to be your best bet. It’s really smooth, contains the full Windows 10 suite, and will support multiple digital art programs and can run multiple programs at the same time.

The E5 contains the following:
– Intel Core i5-6200U
– 15.6-inch 1080p matte TN non-touch display
– Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics
– 8 GB DDR4 RAM
– 256 GB SSD SATA 3
– Windows 10 Home Edition

Btw, I also have my own post for some laptops that I also recommend for you that are under $500 here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SuggestALaptop/comments/5vgi6t/my_list_for_the_best_2017_pcs_available_right_now/

This laptop is $550, which is $150 over your limit, but this is the best bang for you buck you will get for a laptop. This Acer Aspire E15 has got it all:
– 15.6″ 1080p IPS screen (matte, non-touch, and better than the $350 TN panel)
– Intel Core i5-6200U dual-core processor
– 8 GB of DDR4 RAM
– 256GB SSD (500 MB read, 300 MB write)
– Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics card (60 FPS 1080p low-medium)
– Windows 10 Home
– Backlit keyboard with number pad for office work
– Removable battery, so your computer won’t be 100% broken if you spill coffee on it

The SSD & the RAM are replaceable. You can go up to 16 GB of DDR4 ram, and you can go up to 2 TB of storage on this computer. There’s no optical drive in this, but you can purchase an optical drive for this computer for an extra $50, or reuse that optical drive bay for another hard drive or SSD slot.
This computer is $200 more than the i3 computer, but it’s a million times better. The integrated graphics chip on the i3 Acer is 5 times worse than the 940MX on the Aspire E15 with the i5. Also, the 1 TB hard drive on the i3 Acer is the speeds you’ll get with hard drives from 2006, whereas the SSD on the i5 Acer is just as fast as the fastest computers nowadays. Also, the 8 GB of RAM on the i5 Acer will allow you to stream Twitch and YouTube at the same time, & type a Word document. However, the i3 Acer can only stream Twitch or YouTube at the same time.
Just get the $550 version. It’s way better. You’ll regret buying the $350 version in a couple months.

Also, maybe it’s just me or Michiganders is giving really bad laptop suggestions (not trying to hate on him, but still :P).

[USA] Work and play laptop for up to $550-ish

Posted on: February 17, 2017 by Michiganders

Maybe look into the new model of the Acer E 15 for $550, as it has a good mix of decent specs and an extremely long battery life. It comes with a new Kaby lake i5 processor, 8gb of ram, 256gb SSD, and a GTX 940MX dGPU. It’s 940MX dGPU would be just fine for light and moderate gaming including emulators. It also has a very long battery life (advertised up to 12 hours), a 1080p TN display, and a moderate weight at 5.3 lbs.

It will do a decent job at low to medium range gaming and your low end CAD.. Its awesome battery life makes it perfect for travelling with..

Damn, I actually really like this! Now a few questions. I’m not as tech savvy as I’d like to be so forgive me:

* Would this quad-core i5 be just as good or comparable to a dual core i7 with 8 GB RAM? Comparing this to what was previously my first choice.

* Would the HDD be swappable for a SSD at all in the future?

**Edit**: this is what I’m comparing this Lenovo to. This Acer: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DT4A2R4

SSD worth it for my budget, or can an HDD with a good CPU and RAM be fast too?

Posted on: February 7, 2017 by SaneBRZ

> …. is it easy for an every day person to add an HDD to that SATA bay in the IdeaPad 700?

It’s not complicated. If you take off the bottom cover, it will look like this:

Lenovo IdeaPad 700 internals

The HDD (of 2.5 inch SATA bay) is located above the battery on the right side. You will have to unplug the cable band which runs above it, stick in your HDD, plug in the cable band again and you’re done.

> If there are significantly less expensive (saving $100-$150 or more dollars) comparable laptops …

There are cheaper laptops out there with an Intel i5, SSD, Nvidia GT 940MX, but they have a horrible display (a TN panel, with narrow viewing angles). But if you don’t mind that:

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG

Like the Lenovo IdeaPad 700 it has a free 2.5 inch SATA bay for an HDD.

I would prefer going for it over the once you see at Costco because of it’s SSD and screen resolution.

I agree with Shopineer, if your budget can stretch to get this then I would recommend going with it, if not then I would recommend this config of Acer Laptop Aspire E because it comes with very similar specs and the same GPU so gaming perfromance should be the same, however, it comes with 1 TB of HDD instead of 256GB of SSD.

Can I have a list of laptops out now or coming out soon with a GTX 1050?

Posted on: January 25, 2017 by drogbafan

Holy crap, that’s a really good deal. Is it worth getting the 2GB extra VRAM on the GTX 1050? Also, how does the 1050 compare to the 940?

For $605, I can get a quad core i5, GTX 1050 4GB, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, backlit keyboard. The only disappointing thing is the HDD, I’d have hoped for a SSD. Considering I was about to pay $560 for this, I think $50 more might be worth the upgrade in GPU.

And that it comes with a 1366x768p display, which would be a major dealbreaker for at this budget. You should really aim for a laptop with a 1920x1080p display, and preferably an IPS panel. The only two laptops which meet that requirement on your list is the

Lenovo IdeaPad 510S 14

and the

Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG an Amazon, which you can get cheaper at Best Buy with a newer Kaby Lake based CPU (though it has a TN panel and not an IPS panel).

Both the Acer Aspire E 15 and Lenovo Ideapad 700 are great options for gaming laptops, but I wouldn’t recommend them for college because they are big and heavy to carry around on a daily basis, I would recommend this ASUS ZenBook UX330UA because it comes with 8 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, the new Intel Core i5 2.5GHz 7200U which is one of the best in this price range and on ultrabooks, intel HD 620 which is great for light gaming and again one of the best iGPU currently available on laptops, high build quality, very good battery life, very light at 2.6 lbs, USB Type C, and it is within your budget.

Posted on: January 10, 2017 by ssprogramming

I think I will be going with this Acer Aspire laptop (Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG). The one I linked was similarly priced, but pretty much out of stock so I assume it’s been phased out. This one is only $550 which seems pretty cheap to me. It has a 940m graphics card, making it not the greatest for gaming, but as I said in my original post I already have a desktop gaming PC. 256gb SSD, 8 gigs of ram and it has space to add another drive and another ram stick. States 12 hours battery life, but doubt it will get that much, but better then other laptops I saw saying only 4 hours.

Overall I think this sounds pretty good. ~~Added bonus that you can buy it with an Amazon bag and mouse for only $25 more.~~ On second thought the reviews for the laptop bag seem nasty and they can rip and unclip, so I think I might skip the laptop bag deal.

I hope the video editing that you will be doing is not anything too intense as that will require a laptop with a quad core processor..You can get one in your price point, but the one I would recommend would not have the best of battery life. For very light video editing and your school work though, this **Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG Laptop** would be a very good pick. It has a nice i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, a fast 256 GB SSD and of course, a Geforce 940 MX graphics card that will come in handy in video editing. This laptop also has a decent keyboard and based on personal experience, I can tell you that it’s touchpad is fine.. It’s battery life is outstanding… Expect to get close to 10 hours of use before it’s battery needs to be charged.

This laptop here might be friendly on the wallet. It has a 256 ssd and will be really fast, the graphics card is good enough to play the games listed above at the settings you want. Battery life is advertised at 12 hours

Posted on: January 3, 2017 by Orangematz

Priority for gaming is the GPU. That comes first.

I believe this might be a little thinner/lighter, but it doesn’t save you much money if you switch to the dual-core. In fact you’re also going down to a 940MX, too. Not worth it.

Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01DT4A2R4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483116626&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=acer+aspire+e15+laptop&dpPl=1&dpID=41HfDkXXyeL&ref=plSrch

Basically everything you wanted. I play CSGO at max 60 FPS on it. Might wanna buy a $20 cooling pad for the more demanding games.

Edit: it is Acer, but people who have had bad experiences with Acer still give it the thumbs up. Best specs for under $600.

$350 - $500 in US primarily for indie gaming

Posted on: December 31, 2016 by Cole3003

It’s $50 over budget, but I’d try this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01DT4A2R4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483116626&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=acer+aspire+e15+laptop&dpPl=1&dpID=41HfDkXXyeL&ref=plSrch

It has a dedicated graphics card, 8GB DDR4 RAM, Intel i5-6200U (2.3-2.8 GHz), and an SSD. I own one, and it can run moderate games well (60 FPS on CSGO at max settings). Indie games should run well on it. Only thing I’ve played on it that was a little slow was SWTOR, but that’s a big MMO. It might be more than you were planning on spending, but I think it will be worth it. Also is 1080p, which is a bonus.

Posted on: December 24, 2016 by LonerIM2

Would you be ok with refurbished? (better value for money that way), if yes then let me know so I can make a recommendation in that area.

If you prefer new I would recommend either this Acer Aspire E 15 E5 because it comes with dual core i5 for your general usage and college usage, 8GB DDR4 which is enough ram for smooth multi tasking, Good SSD storage (256GB) for faster booting and and overall performance, 15.6-inch Full HD which is great for video watching and it is within your budget range with advertised battery life of Up to 12-hours Battery Life.

Or this this with similar specs and price with better build quality but not as good as battery life.

LF Windows Laptop for Productivity Tasks

Posted on: December 24, 2016 by LonerIM2

I would recommend this Acer Aspire E 15 E5 because it comes with 940MX GPU which is great for this price point and the minimum that I would recommend for your games, dual core i5 for your general usage and gaming, 8GB DDR4 which is enough ram for smooth multi tasking, Good SSD storage (256GB) for faster booting and and overall performance, 15.6-inch Full HD which is great for video watching and it is within your budget range.

Or if you want something that is even cheaper then I would recommend this Acer Aspire E 15 because it comes with great value for money, it comes with 15.6″ Full HD 1920*1080 screen which is the best you can get for this price point and usually available for much higher price, the new Intel Core i3-7100U Processor which is powerful enough for your general usage and comes with Intel HD Graphics 620 which is good enough for light gaming, it also has great battery life (advertised 12 hours on light usage), 1 – USB 3.1 (Type C) which is a great plus and above all great price point.

Posted on: December 24, 2016 by LonerIM2

That refurbished dell looks great for the price, too good to be true, if you think you can trust them then that would be more choice, if you cant and you want something more trust worthy then I would recommend this Acer Aspire E 15 E5 because it comes with 940MX GPU which is great for this price point and some light to medium gaming, dual core i5 for your general usage and gaming, 8GB DDR4 which is enough ram for smooth multi tasking, Good SSD storage (256GB) for faster booting and and overall performance, 15.6-inch Full HD which is great for video watching and it is within your budget range.

Looking for Decent Gaming Laptop under $700

Posted on: December 23, 2016 by Michiganders

If you really want to budget, my best suggestion would be the Acer E15 for $509. It would play GTA and Overwatch fine on Medium settings with solid FPS, but not much more. It could still play more demanding games, but only on very light settings. It has a skylake i5 processor, 8gb of ram, 256gb ssd, and a GTX 940MX graphics card.

If you want something more powerful, I would just suggest the Lenovo Thinkpad 700 for $540. It is more powerful with a quad core i5 processor, 8gb of ram, 1TB HDD and a GTX 950M. The 950M will work just fine for most games you’re probably looking to play. It has a shorter battery life than the Acer, but it’s 1080p display is an IPS rather than a TN in the Acer.

That’s the one I’m thinking about right now. Like I said I won’t be playing many games but it’d be nice to play TF2 and from what I understand this will be able to play on max no problem

This **Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG Laptop** is exactly what you are looking for. Under $600, you are looking at a laptop here with an i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, a fast 256 GB SSD and a nice geforce 940mx dedicated graphics card. This will play all steam games very well and has a pretty decent build quality. It also has a fantastic battery life that you will love.

This **Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG Laptop** will be a decent pick for you. It is not the most powerful gamer, but will suffice in running those games mentioned if it’s even on medium setting. It has a nice i5 processor, 8 GB RAM which is great, a fast 256 GB SSD and a low level geforce 940 mx dedicated graphic card. It also has good build quality, okay keyboard, and brilliant battery life.

Acer has decent specced laptops in your budget range. Depending on how much you want to spend, you can get him either something with a Nvidia GT 940MX or 950M as GPU.

940MX:

* Acer Aspire E5-575G-52RJ
* Acer Aspire E5-575G-55KK
* Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG

950M:

* Acer Aspire E5-575G-5341
* Acer Aspire E5-575G-527J

Looking for a laptop to use while in Indonesia (buying in USA). Preferences: durability, casual gaming, and battery life. No screen size or weight preferences. Budget: ~$500-700.

Posted on: December 19, 2016 by LonerIM2

I would recommend either this Acer Aspire E 15 E5 because it comes with 940MX GPU which is great for this price point and for your games, dual core i5 for your general usage and gaming, 8GB DDR4 which is enough ram for smooth multi tasking, Good SSD storage (256GB) for faster booting and and overall performance, 15.6-inch Full HD which is great for video watching and it is within your budget range.

Another good option for more is this **Dell Inspiron** because it comes with 960M GPU which is the best you can get for this budget and will be able to play the games you mentioned on high settings with high FPS, it also comes with enough ram for smooth multi tasking(8GB), Good SSD storage (256GB) for faster booting and and overall performance,Quad-Core-i5-6300HQ-Processor which more than enough for your gaming, great value for money, good battery life, it also come with back lit keybaord.

~15" Needed for Photoshopping and running a projector. ~$500, US.

Posted on: December 19, 2016 by LonerIM2

Since you can push your budget over 500 then I would recommend this Acer Aspire E 15 E5 because it comes with what you need 940MX GPU fr your games, dual core i5 for your general usage and stronger than the i3 mentioned on the other Acer, 8GB DDR4 which is enough ram for smooth multi tasking, Good SSD storage (256GB) for faster booting and and overall performance, 15.6-inch Full HD which is great for video watching and it is within your budget range.

US, ~600 for mostly gaming and entertainment

Posted on: December 18, 2016 by LonerIM2

Overwatch on high settings with this budget is a little unlikely, I would recommend this Acer Aspire E 15 E5 because it comes with 940MX GPU which should be able to run Overwatch on medium with good FPs, dual core i5 for your general usage and light gaming, 8GB DDR4 which is enough ram for smooth multi tasking, Good SSD storage (256GB) for faster booting and and overall performance, 15.6-inch Full HD which is great for video watching and it is within your budget range.

If you don’t have to buy a laptop right now I would keep my eye on this dell because it can drop to 600~ and the GPU on it is much better than the one on the acer.

This **Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG Laptop** would run ovewatch very well and it is within your price range. It has a nice 6th generation i5 processor, 8 GB RAM , a fast 256 GB SSD and the geforce 940MX dedicated graphics card. The thing is though, this laptop is more of a low end gamer and will not do a great job with more demanding games. For a laptop that will do well in the future, you will need to go for more power and that attracts more $.

Is this the best I can get for under 700?

Posted on: December 12, 2016 by LonerIM2

What is your usage will be ? there is this Acer Aspire E with very similar specs and almost 150 USD less (no 1 TB HDD, but you can add one for way less than that), or for the same price tag This **Dell Inspiron that you can add a SSD to to match your specs, or this dell which you can add a 1TB HDD, both the dells are a much better option because for the same price you get a much more powerful CPU/GPU which you can’t upgrade later, where the acer you linked has a weaker GPU/CPU which you will be stuck with.

In that price range, this Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-53VG Laptop sits right within your budget and would be perfect for you. It comes with a nice 6th generation i5 processor, solid 8 GB RAM and a fast 256 GB SSD that will not only allow you to have a speedy starting up of laptop, but also lot’s of speed when running various applications. My best suggestion right now would probably be the Acer E15 for $500. It has a skylake i5 processor, 8gb of ram and a 256gb ssd. It also has a GTX 940MX graphics card which will aid in any graphic intensive work or light/moderate gaming you find yourself interested in (could run emulators easily). It also has a full 1080p display, and a very long battery life (advertised as up to 12 hours).

If you don’t think you’ll need a dedicated GPU you could also look into the HP 15 for $585. It has a skylake i7 processor, 8gb of ram and a 256gb ssd. This option has an IPS display (will be glossy but have good color reproduction / brightness, it’s a TN panel on the Acer). It is also lighter weight at 4.75 pounds.

My best suggestion right now would probably be the Acer E15 for $500. It has a skylake i5 processor, 8gb of ram and a 256gb ssd. It also has a GTX 940MX graphics card which will be able to play games like Overwatch, Elder Scrolls Online, and Street Fighter IV just fine. It will struggle with some AAA games on the market that are extremely graphic intensive though. It also has a full 1080p display, and a very long battery life (advertised as up to 12 hours).

Jesus Christ, whatโ€™s the best gaming laptop under 500$?!

Posted on: December 1, 2016 by Michiganders

It depends on what you’re looking for. Are you looking for the most power and nothing else? Are you looking for a hybrid gaming laptop that is also portable? Are you looking for a decent amount of power, but also want something like a touchscreen, or long battery life, or an SSD? We need more information.

One of the best all around gaming laptops on the market right now is probably the Acer E15 for $500. It has a skylake i5 processor, 8gb of ram and a 256gb ssd. It also has a GTX 940MX graphics card, which isn’t incredibly powerful, but should still be able to play the majority of middle-tier games on the market. It also has a full 1080p display, and a very long battery life (advertised as up to 12 hours).

(X-POST /r/laptops) Advice on this PC/is this good for my needs?

Posted on: December 1, 2016 by SaneBRZ

> Definitely want quad processor.

Really? For example all those AMD A8, A10, A12 or whatever quad cores perform worse than a dual core Intel i5. The AMD A10-9600P in the HP you linked, falls even behind some dual core Intel i3 models:

” A Core i3-6100U can distance itself from our test model by 20 to 25% and the older Broadwell processors, i3-5005U and i3-5010U; achieve a lead of 5 to 10%.”

I would recommend to stick to Intel CPUs, preferable an Intel i5 in your budget range.

> … high quality material (my last Lenovo’s case broke from picking it up).

You have a budget of 500 bucks. You will have to make some compromises. No new laptop in this price category will be build like a MacBook.

> I also read that the AMD processor I chose is better than the Intel i5 quad core that the 15t came with.

No. Not even in the same league as an i5 quad core.

> Which would fit my needs better/create a better/longer lasting laptop?

SSD is a better choice. HDD = additional moving parts = higher chance of failure.

If you want a laptop that doesn’t burn down while playing Sims 3, then take a look at this Acer Aspire E5-575G-53VG:

* 15.6 inch, 1920x1080p TN display
* Intel i5-6200U + 8 GB of RAM
* 256 GB SSD
* Nvidia GT 940MX with 2 GB of GDDR3 RAM
* Price: $499

Full HD display, SSD and a Nvidia GPU. But you will have to take care of it. It’s a budget friendly gaming laptop.

For this price point I would have to reccomend the Acer E-15. You aren’t going to be able to run games like Witcher 3 however that is not really possible in this price range.

If you could swing the extra $100 it would be well worth it to get the Dell i7559. This is the laptop I use on a daily basis and games well.

Posted on: November 27, 2016 by LonerIM2

As other have mentioned the 8GB of ram is the sweet spot for most games, however, if you are only going to play this games then you would be way overpaying for your usage, even this would be more than enough.

A great one with great value for money is this Acer Aspire E 15 because it comes with very good battery life, has a great screen res than you need (1920 x 1080 resolution), Good SSD storage (256GB) for faster booting and and overall performance, has enough ram for smooth multi tasking(8GB), backlit keyboard which is cool plus, especially if you do any gaming/chatting/studying at night, 940MX GPU if you ever want to do some light gaming, and offers great value for money just enough for your 500 USD budget.

What are some good laptops for gaming that are worth their price?

Posted on: November 14, 2016 by LonerIM2

If you want to be under 600$ then I would recommend Acer Aspire E 15 because it already offers great value for the price, it comes with enough ram for smooth multi tasking (8GB), 256GB SSD for faster booting and and overall performance, great battery life, Backlit Keyboard, and Full HD screen (which I wouldn’t recommend any less for your screen), and fits well inside your under 600$ budget.

For that price you’re going to have to hunt around for a deal. This Acer is a great deal for the price, I’ve seen it go for $400 before, which is by far the best bang for your buck. Check out Slickdeals.net and with that budget, I’d definitely consider refurbished/used models.

Posted on: October 3, 2016 by LonerIM2

I would recommend this Acer Aspire E 15 hands down the best “gaming” laptop for this price range because it comes with 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6200U Processor (Up to 2.8GHz)
15.6-inch Full HD Display, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX with 2GB DDR5 VRAM(should be more than enough for your gaming),
8GB DDR4 Memory(great for multitasking), 256GB SSD
Windows 10 Home; Backlit Keyboard(great for faster booting and loading)
Up to 12-hours Battery Life.

You can get a slightly better 950M GPU but there is no need to pay more for than because 940MX is more than enough.

Worth buying expensive laptops?

Posted on: September 28, 2016 by ariwake

This depends on the usage that youยดre going to give said laptop. If you want to game and absolutely need a laptop then by all means get one.

~~If its going to be for general usage then something like the Acer e15 which is a beast for general usage although its a bit on the expensive side.~~ What i would recomend (as Im no laptop expert by any means) is to ask around here for a laptop that suits your specific needs and around your price range.

EDIT: Just saw the edit to your main post. I am not familiar with those applications so I can’t really give you advice on what to buy. Hope you find what you’re looking for.

I think both this Acer and this HP are great options for autocad under 600, you wouldn’t be going wrong with either, The acer’s main advantage is the SSD and faster Ram, and the HP main advantage is the slightly better GPU and CPU (for your usage I would go with the Acer, but as I said, you can’t go wrong with eaither since they both over great value for money).

Need a $400-$600 U.S. ~15" laptop for data analysis and some light gaming

Posted on: September 19, 2016 by Michiganders

The laptop Orangematz recommended is the best value if you’re looking for more intensive gaming since it has a 950M graphics card.

If you don’t need as much gaming capabilities and would prefer an SSD, I would highly recommend looking into the Acer Aspire E15 for $550. It has a SSD which offers less storage, but will be much faster than the 1TB HDD in the other. It also has a 940MX graphics card which will still work well for gaming, but is just a bit less powerful than the 950M graphics card. This model also has a better battery life.

Should i buy a gaming laptop now for 800$ or wait for better laptops?

Posted on: September 18, 2016 by Orangematz

As mentioned, you don’t need a laptop with a dGPU for such light games. Or you could even get something like this to stick with some light games and then build a desktop for heavy games.

Gaming laptop, budget 600 USD

Posted on: September 8, 2016 by thelphelper

take a look at the *Acer Aspire E 15 laptop* it is the best on the market for what you want.It comes with a 6th Generation Intel Core i5 processor, in terms of the games your talking about the NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card for gaming. It is perfect to type on the keys with Backlit Keyboard. You are expected to get 12-hours of Battery Life as well.

$650 Decent gaming laptop request.

Posted on: September 5, 2016 by Michiganders

If you really want a long battery life, your best option is probably the Acer E 15 for $550. It will work just fine for gaming with a 940MX graphics card, and it has 8GB of ram and a skylake i5 processor. It also has a 256GB SSD drive.

It’s 940MX graphics card will work just fine for games like Overwatch and GTA, although you will not be able to play GTA V with top level graphics settings, as it’s not the most powerful of dedicated graphics cards.

It’s a great match because of it’s amazing battery life, lasting up to 12 hours of light usage. This is extremely rare for gaming laptops (most high end ones hardly last 3 hours) so if you want a battery life this long you’re going to be limiting your options.

If you want a bit more power, you could go for the Acer Aspire E 5 for $580, but you lose the 256GB SSD and get a 1TB HDD instead. You do get a 950M graphics card instead of a 940MX though, which will allow for more gaming potential. It has a mediocre battery life though, with a review saying it lasts about 5 hours.

For what you would like to do as well as your budget, this Acer Aspire E 15 would be an ideal pick for you. It has a nice i5 processor, decent 8 GB RAM , a fast 256 GB SSD and a nice mid level GTX 940 MX dedicated graphics card for gaming. This laptop will allow you to easily complete school work as well as run some games. It has an okay build quality, great display and a stunning 12 hours battery life.

[US] Laptop for college

I would go with this Acer hands down. Has an SSD, DDR4 RAM(which you can up to 16 GB later if necessity dictates), and a solid entry-level gfx card(GDDR5 940MX which is said to be 20-30% better in benchmarks than the GDDR3 940M). It’s not touch screen like the Lenovo you posted, but it does have a 15.6 inch screen instead.

Even with the discounts you’d receive, the Acer ends up still being cheaper.

U.S.A. college student looking for a SSD laptop under $600

It has come down to the Acer Aspire and the HP 15-ay013nr.

Pros of Acer:

*Long battery life

*Bigger SSD

*Backlit keyboard

*Dedicated graphics card

*Has extra space for an HDD

Cons of Acer:

*More expensive

*Battery is not removable

*Over 5 pounds

*Over an inch thick

Pros of HP:

*Removable battery

*Under 5 pounds

*Under an inch thick

Cons of HP:

*Smaller SSD

*Less features than Acer, like no graphics card, backlit keyboard and extra space for a HDD.

Both seem to have equal builds and warranties. The HP is more portable since it is thinner, and I do value that since I am a college student and will be out and about with the laptop. The Acer has a longer battery life and slightly better features, but that comes at a price. HP having a removable battery is a big plus. Does brand matter much? I have heard HP not being as good as it once was. I am still not sure what to get. ):

If you can go a little over 500, This Acer Aspire E 15 is a good option, specs wise, however some people have complained from wifi issues, the only great plus it has is the GPU which will support your light gaming with ease, but, since you are not planning on doing any heavy gaming I would actually recommend this ASUS F556UA, and it comes with 15.6-Inch Full-HD Display with Windows 10 Pre-installed,
Powerful Intel i5-6200U 2.3 GHz Processor (Turbo to 2.8 GHz)(I know you asked for i7, but I believe IMO that an i5 with SSD will provide better performance than an i7 with HDD) ,
256GB Solid-State Drive for blazing-fast boot times and program launches, and DL DVDRW/CD-RW for DVD watching, with great battery life (7-8 with light to moderate usage).

If you can not go over 500, then I would recommend this HP 15-ay013nr as it comes with 15.6″ Full-HD (1920 x 1080) screen,
Intel Core i5 6200U, 2.3GHz, Dual-Core Processor,
8GB DDR3L-SDRAM Memory,
128GB Solid-State Drive; Super-Multi DVD Burner.

For even more options you can check this list for laptops under 500 USD

Since you will be doing a little gaming- especially for overwatch, in that budget, I strongly recommend you go for this ** Acer Aspire E 15 laptop** with the 940MX graphics card… It will slightly out perform that Acer Aspire E5-573G, thanks to it’s better graphics card as well as it’s SSD that will provide some much needed speed…This laptop also has a great battery life..

I just want a laptop that can run rocket league

You can take a look at **this list** to get an idea of what is out there and compare the best options side by side.

The best value is the **Acer Aspire E15-575G**, and it should have no issue with battery life and handling Rocket League. There are more powerful options as you step up in budget though.

This Acer Aspire E15-575G is the best deal for a laptop at the moment, the battery life is awesome 12 hour battery life which would be really important .It also has a backlit keyboard, i5-6200U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD great storage and speed, Nvidia 940MX graphics for your games, and a 15.6″ 1920×1080 display.

Moderate gaming laptop ~$500

Go ahead and get the Acer Aspire E 15 laptop .It is in your budget range and will do an excellent job at playing those games you listed above.
