In this price range for gaming I would rather choose **Acer Predator Helios 300**.

It has:

* 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ Processor (Up to 3.8GHz)
* GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM
* 15.6″ Full HD (1920 x 1080) widescreen IPS display, Up to 7-hours of battery life

Hey,

How about the **Acer Predator Helios 300**? It has:

* i7-7700HQ 4-core processor

* 16 GB of RAM

* 256 GB SSD storage

* 1080p 15.6″ display

* GTX 1060 6 GB graphics card

* Weight of 6lbs and battery life up to 7 hours

The laptop runs Windows 10 Home. Any recent game (AAA titles) will run great at high settings, so the games you listed will have no issue. It will also be fine for general use.

It seems EVERY laptop with a 10-series GPU and a decent processor (i7 quad core) has overheating problems causing performance to be throttled. Can anybody suggest a laptop that doesn't have cooling problems?

Posted on: August 18, 2018 by afkb39sdfb

$1,200 with no memory, no hard drive, and a 60hz **TN** 1080p display…

Adding 16gb ram, the IPS panel, and a 512gb ssd kicks the price to **$1,625**…

Ripoff.

This Acer Predator Helios for $1049 has:

i7-7700HQ 3.8Ghz quad core

16 GB ram

256 GB SSD

GTX 1060 6gb

IPS 1080p display

Etc.

For $575 cheaper.

Laptop for class and gaming. $800-$1200.

Hello! Sadly, not many gaming laptops in this price range are light, because of the beefy design needed to cool these laptops.

I would recommend this Acer Predator Helios 300, which has the i7-7700HQ 4-core processor, 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB SSD, 1080p 15.6″ display, and GTX 1060 6 GB graphics card. It has a battery life of up to 7 hours and weighs 6lbs. Gaming laptops can be suitable for school, fans shouldn’t kick in during class if you’re just taking notes or doing searches. You can install Microsoft Office yourself. This GPU will be able to run AAA games very well at 1080p. It has a wide variety of ports, including several USBs.

Not really, for an extra 50 you can get this acer which comes with the same specs but with 1060, so it is not too good to be true, several other laptops in the price range comes with similar specs, the main selling point of it though is the mechanical keyboard.

Good Deal for gaming laptop for $1080?

Posted on: August 5, 2017 by The---Technician

I wanted to tell you that the **Helios 300** with the GTX 1060 would give you far more options in the future should you decide to go hard core gaming on your laptop as the GTX 1060 is much better than the GTX 1050 Ti the Dell comes with… I am not sure if this PROSTAR Clevo N850HK1 works out cheaper than the Dell after Tax and shipping for you, but it would also get the job done for you very well and I prefer it’s build quality over the Dell..The Dell has a better battery life though.

Costco Gaming Laptop Comparison Advice

Posted on: August 5, 2017 by Juicer_Juicington

Does it have to be from Costco? Could you buy from say Amazon? Or is it a must to buy from Costco, because if not I’d recommend the Acer Predator Helios 300. It has a GTX 1060, i7-7700HQ, 16 gigs of ram and a 15″ 1920×1080 IPS display. I recently bought it under recommendation from another Reddit user but it hasn’t arrived yet. As far as I’ve seen it’s pretty good at that price range.

If I’m not mistaken I believe you can turn it off. Also I got hyped up by looking at the SabrePro too with the 1060 until I saw that it only has a 60 Whr battery 🙁

Besides that I don’t have anything else except the Acer Predator Helios 300 which contrary to what you want since it has a very noticeable gamer look.

Need help choosing a GTX 1060 Laptop!

Posted on: July 18, 2017 by Michiganders

You’ll be pretty hard-pressed to find a powerful machine with the gtx 1060 and a great battery life. The Acer predator 300 has an advertised 7 hour battery life for $1050 and is widly considered one of the best value laptops based on its specs and price range. It has an Intel Quad Core i7-7700HQ processor, 16gb of ram, a 256GB SSD, and that GTX 1060 dGPU.

Alternatively, look into the Acer V15 Nitro for $1180if you’re looking for a more sleek laptop with a 1TB HDD.

If you were willing to sacrifice some of the battery life from the predator, this Eluktronics P650 for $1300 is a very popular laptop and great at this price range. Its well built, and powerful with many customizable specifications, a good display, and a sleek design. The rest of the specs are an Intel Quad core i7-7700HQ processor, 16gb ram, a 512gb SSD, and a GTX 1060 dGPU making it a very powerful machine. You could add an aftermarket HDD if you desired, but the SSD is rather large at 512.

For an option at the top of your budget, this Eluktronics P650 for $1500 has everything you’d want (except for the battery life), including an Intel Kaby lake i7-7700HQ processor, 16GB of ram, a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, and a GTX 1060dGPU. The display is a 120 HZ for this model as well.

Hopefully this will help you out. If you want more of an idea as to whats on the market, consider checking my extensive laptop recommendation guide

[Question] Help deciding between Lenovo Legion Y520 Vs Lenovo Legion Y720 vs Acer Helios 300

Posted on: July 13, 2017 by LonerIM2

Are you talking about this Acer ?

Because it have an IPS panel, it might be a little dim but it’s an IPS

For a better screen i would recommend the Eluktronics N850HP6 becuase it comes with i7-7700HQ which is one of the best CPUs in the market ,15.6″ Full HD IPS screen with 335 nits and 90% sRGB ,8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM great for multitasking ,256GB SSD and a Full Size RGB Silver-Lining Backlit Keyboard,this is the most upgradable brand you can get and i think it has Good warranty and customer support. you might want to check my post about Comparison between laptops with GTX 1050/1050Ti for any other options .

Want a long lasting laptop for college that can handle some demanding gaming too.

Posted on: July 13, 2017 by LonerIM2

I think that the GIGABYTE P35XV6-PC3 is great for that price but not so great for you and that why

* You said you need ~6 hrs. minimum of battery life with a GTX 1070 I don’t think that it will happen because as much power it gives it takes ( in normal usage with the wifi off it gets 5 hrs. only)
* It has heat management issues and the fans get pretty loud .
* The fact that it doesn’t have g-sync and only a 60 Hz. screen means that even if it have a GTX 1070 you won’t get above 60fps on anything.

basically it’s like you pay all the money for a Ferrari to drive it on a road where the speed limit is 40 mile while it eats up your petrol for it

Instead I would recommend the Acer Predator Helios 300 it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading,Full HD IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, long battery life

Or for a better screen the Eluktronics N850HP6 becuase it comes with i7-7700HQ which is one of the best CPUs in the market ,15.6″ Full HD IPS screen with 335 nits and 90% sRGB ,8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM great for multitasking ,256GB SSD and a Full Size RGB Silver-Lining Backlit Keyboard,this is the most upgradable brand you can get and i think it has Good warranty and customer support.

Don’t get it it has the 3GB GTX 1060 version you are better off with Acer Predator Helios 300 it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading,Full HD IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, long battery life

Why get a laptop that overheats then undervolt it and lose some of it’s power ?

You are better of with the Acer Predator Helios 300 it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading,Full HD IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, long battery life

If you have the budget this i7 with 1060 is worth it if you don’t have the budget, then There are several good options under 900, there is the acer VX 15, and the Lenovo Y520 both come with i5 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 8 (or 16 on the acer) GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, Full HD IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, 1050Ti GPU that should be able to handle the games you mentioned on high settings with very good FPs, and it is within your budget.

If you don’t mind to DIY installing the HDD then For a little over 1000 this would be your best option hands down because it offers great of value and since it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, Full HD IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, 1060 GPU for your games which is very hard to find at this price point, and it is within your budget.

how about the acer predator helios 300? you would have to invest a little more but it packs a 6 GB 1060. only downside is that you have to buy a hard drive but those are quite cheap. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-7700HQ-GeForce-G3-571-77QK/dp/B06Y4GZS9C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498089035&sr=8-1&keywords=predator+helios+300

Do you think prices for 10-series laptops drop when the Max-Q laptops are released? Should I buy or should I wait?

If you are waiting for Nvidia Max-Q before buying a laptop then waiting is pointless and you should get this, if you don’t have the money then check back here before you buy, we usually are aware of the best deals around.

For the most part, gaming laptops at that price range won’t have the best battery life, especially under load. This Acer Predator Helios 300 for $1050 does have an advertised 7 hour battery life though. Internally it has a Quad Core i7-7700HQ processor, 16gb of ram, 256GB SSD, GTX 1060 dGPU, which will be plenty strong for you. It has a 15.6″ 1080p IPS display, and weighs 5.4lbs. Overall this is a great value gaming laptop, and is VR ready according to its graphics card.

For more options with different battery lifes, consider checking this post that lays out many other popular gaming options.

Which HP Open are you revering to? Is it This one? Check out the **Acer Predator Helios 300** if you want to go as cheap as possible (while preserving power)

* Intel Core i7-7700HQ,
* GeForce GTX 1060 6GB,
* 15.6″ Full HD,
* 16GB DDR4,
* 256GB SSD

Its low budget but powerful as it features a i7-7700HQ and a gtx 1060 GPU which is rare for this proce. It also has an IPS display that will give you a wide viewing angle. I would suggest that you add a HDD later on for more storage though

Same answer as before

That means GTX 1060 notebook. They mobile GTX 10 series cards are so close in performance to the desktop version that Nvidia no longer differentiates the two in the name. The mobile GTX 1060 will still about about 90% as efficient as the desktop version.

I would agree with you though, and believe the Asus Predator Helios 300 is an excellent choice. It’s probably the best value GTX 1060 laptop on the market right now (with an IPS display). There are a few slightly better options, but none for the same price point.

For something that already has two storage drives, and with a very good build quality, look into the Eluktronics P650 for $1350. It has pretty similar specs but with a 512gb SSD instead of a 1TB HDD.

For more suggestions or a better idea of what to look for, maybe look through my comprehensive list here.

For the best value, I would suggest looking into the Asus Predator Helios 300 on sale for $1050. It’s probably the best value gaming laptop on the market right now with good specs, a pretty good build quality and an IPS display. It comes with a Kaby Lake quad core processor, 16gb of ram, 256gb SSD and a GTX 1060 dGPU. It also has another storage slot to add a second hard drive to increase storage if you need to do so in the future. It comes with a 1080p IPS display, advertises a 6 hour battery life, and would work extremely well for high end gaming.

For something that already has two storage drives, and with a very good build quality, look into the Eluktronics P650 for $1350. It has pretty similar specs but already has a 256gb SSD and a 1TB HDD.

If you can add $50 to your budget the Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop is your best bet as it features an

* Intel Core i7-7700HQ,
* GeForce GTX 1060 6GB,
* 15.6″ Full HD,
* 16GB DDR4,
* 256GB SSD

The only thing you would need to do is upgrade the SSD later on if you need more storage. The extra $50 you would spend on this lapop is worth it as the GTX 1060 video card is a beast. This system also features an IPS display for wide viewing angles

US (around $1,000 USD) the cheaper the better screen size around 15in.

What about the **Lenovo Legion Y520** (999$ from Costco). Here is a quick view of the specs:

* Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ Processor 2.8GHz
* NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB
* 16GB DDR4 (2-DIMM) RAM
* Microsoft® Windows 10

* Dimensions: 14.96″ x 10.43″ x 1.02″
* Approximate Weight: 5.28lbs
* 4hrs battery life

However if you can push your budget to 1050$ you could get the Acer Predator Helios 300 which comes with a GTX 1060 and will drastically improve performance (60% more powerful) : you’ll be able to play at high settings on nice framerates.

If you are interested in slightly better battery life then this will be a better option for slightly more money

$1100 Gaming Laptop Advice

This is the laptop I am buying for college, the Acer Predator Helios 300. It seems like the best bang for the buck. The only caveat is you have to buy a hard drive but for the price getting a 6gb 1060, i7 7700, I can get over the predator logo on the front. Also it has pretty good cooling from what I have seen, under 6 pounds. Should pound CSGO easily. Also it’s only 1,059 USD which is insane.

For this budget I wouldn’t recommend the one you linked, you can get a better screen with a better GPU in the same budget, like this acer 300 because it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, high quality Full HD IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, with the much more powerful 1060 GPU which is something you will need/want for high end video gaming and it is within your budget.

The Ge series on the MSI doesn’t have the best build quality, This acer is a great choice and you can add a 1 TB HDD and you would be all set, or you can get this acer if you prefer a bigger screen and don’t want to install a hard drive on your own.

Most and best recommended laptops (gaming, college and general usage).

Posted on: May 23, 2017 by LonerIM2

I assume you are talking about the US ? if yes then This acer is a great choice and worth going over 1k if that is your budget, whether 1050Ti will cut it or not depends on your budget, what games are you planning to play ?

Best Laptops For Gaming/Work

Posted on: May 23, 2017 by The---Technician

Firstly I would like you to see the recommended specs for Battlefield 1 as it is the most demanding game listed and of course, it is quite demanding… See HERE.

This **Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop** satisfies the requirements very well. At $1099, this laptop has a powerful Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, solid GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphics card, 16 GB RAM and a fast 256 GB SSD which are the best specs for a laptop under $1200 I currently know on the market. It comes with only 256 GB SSD another storage drive can be easily added with no fuss at all..Use the remainder of the budget and get a 1 TB Hard drive and you are good to go…

As it relates to build quality of this Helios 300; it does have a very good quality build. It also has a good display and very nice heat management.

Seeking new gaming laptop for all around use!

Posted on: May 22, 2017 by The---Technician

If you are okay with 5.95 pounds weight, this Acer Predator Helios 300 Gaming Laptop in terms of performance would be an ideal pick for you. It has a powerful and new Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, solid GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphics card, 16GB DDR4 RAM and a fast 256GB SSD. This laptop will run those games you have mentioned, excellently and of course, it’s a very good system to step into serious PC gaming with. Based on the specs as well, it will do good job at running CAD applications like Solidworks. In addition to performance, it has a decent build quality, decent battery life for it’s specs and a good heat management which is critical in gaming.

Is this Costco laptop a good deal? ASUS ROG GL753 17.3" Gaming Laptop $999.99 ($200 off)

Posted on: May 20, 2017 by The---Technician

The **Predator Helios 300** would be a much better buy mainly because of it’s much better graphics card in the GTX 1060 6 GB.. This Lenovo LEGION Y520 Gaming Laptop at costco is also a good deal, but it’s battery life is very poor.

Is this laptop good ?

I agree with /u/rise_against227

Look into the Acer Predator Helios 300 it has an 1060, 16GB RAM, same i7, however it does have only a 256GB SSD…but you can upgrade it I’m sure if you want.

Though I rather have a better GPU than more SSD space.

I would recommend either this Acer Predator Helios 300 or this Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro Black Edition because both come with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, (the Nitro comes with 1 TB of HDD for storage + the SSD, the helios doesn’t), Full HD higher quality IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, 1060 GPU for your games, and it is within your budget.

I wouldn’t recommend any of the ones you linked, the Asus is known to have heating issues, and the MSI has lower quality IPS screens, so I would recommend either this Acer Predator Helios 300 or this Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro Black Edition because both come with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, (the Nitro comes with 1 TB of HDD for storage + the SSD, the helios doesn’t), Full HD higher quality IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, 1060 GPU for your games, and it is within your budget.

I agree that this is a great option, another one to consider is Acer-Aspire-Nitro because it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, 1 TB of HDD for storage, Full HD IPS screen with very good color reproduction which is a must have for this price range and your usage, high build quality, good heat management, powerful 1060 GPU for your gaming, HDMI port like you wanted, and it slightly over your budget.

Screen: N/A, Country: US, Budget: $1300 preferred, $1500 max. Some options in mind, but welcome to more options and insight.
