Razer vs Apple vs Dell vs Lenovo

Should I avoid U-series 8th gen i7 processors? Laptop for GIS and graphic design (USA)

Posted on: February 1, 2019 by The_Adviser100

I hate to break it to you but all of those laptops with H type CPU’s that you mentioned weight the same as the Eluktronics Mech-15 G2 except they will throttle under load while the Mech 15 won’t however all of them will have longer battery life.

Now if you want a lighter laptop then you will have to go to U type CPU, which is not the recommended route for CPU intensive work like with GIS like the hawai mate but that too will throttle under load, you could check the MSI PS63 but we don’t have a lot of reviews about it yet .

Editing 4K Video with Adobe Premiere

Posted on: December 6, 2018 by legos45

Hi,

If you can extend your budget slightly, I would recommend the **Eluktronics Mech-15 G2 Pro**, by far the best thermals so you can get the best performance. The laptop’s base model only has 8 GB of RAM, you can either pay for the more expensive model with 16 GB RAM or upgrade yourself in the future. For video editing, you will benefit from the 6-core i7 processor and GTX 1060 graphics card. The laptop also has a good display with over 90% sRGB color accuracy, so photo editing should be fine.

HP Omen 15 vs Helios Predator 300

Posted on: December 5, 2018 by legos45

Hm… around the same price as the Helios 300, there is the **Eluktronics Mech-15 G2 Pro**, which I think it the true best bang for buck. The Helios 300 and Omen 15’s cooling system is worse than the Mech-15 G2 Pro. So, even though the Mech-15 may have less specifications for the price, you start with a better cooling system that can’t really be upgraded. The base configuration gives lots of room of upgrades in the display / RAM / storage, and it has an RGB keyboard.

Hi,

A lot of points already brought up were very valid, but I think most people are missing the main reasons why. First, as you already have seen, the Dell XPS 15 has shown to have QC issues which may be very annoying in the future.

The Eluktronics Mech-15 G2 does not experience thermal throttling. That is the main reason it is superior, you can utilize the components easily to their maximum.

It appears that you need the Thunderbolt mainly for monitor connections, but the laptop already has 3 monitor outputs, you can even use the USB ports if you need to.

Now, if you want to cut back on money, you can go with the **60Hz configuration.** This laptop gives plenty of room for future upgrades, you can upgrade the RAM/storage and the display if you’re interested in that.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I will give an alternative!

The Eluktronics Mech-15 G2 for $1,195 is a decent alternative. It has less RAM and doesn’t have a high refresh rate, but it is actually a bit lighter. The design is not really a gamer design.
